Research Groups The Faculty of Dentistry reorganised its research groups in 2004 to align them with the newly established HKU Strategic Research Themes. The resulting three functional research groups are cross-disciplinary and performance-driven. Most of the Faculty's members have joined one or two groups, either as primary or secondary affiliated members. The three functional research groups and their principal research focuses are as follows: Potential PhD and MPhil candidates may contact any of the research group convenors to formulate a research project and discuss their application for admission to these programmes. Research Laboratory Facilities The Faculty of Dentistry has also centralised its research laboratories, which are now managed by the Committee of Research Management. A technician-in-charge coordinates laboratory support for staff and students. Meanwhile, the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean in Research and Discovery oversee the running and development of the research laboratories in order to optimise the research facilities that are available to support the research endeavours of the Faculty's three research groups, staff, and students. Potential PhD and MPhil candidates and potential collaborators, as well as current researchers and students, can consult our list of the main pieces of equipment in our Centralised Research Laboratory Facilities.
