Welcome
This year the Faculty offers a new course in Implantology. There is much demand for structured, hands-on clinical training for implant dentistry and the new MSc programme will take in its first students in October 2006, but on this stage offered on part-time basis only. The Faculty offers a wide range of TPG courses which have attracted students from Hong Kong, China and other parts of Asia, as well as students from Europe, Australia, Africa, North and South America. About one hundred TPG students are enrolled in our courses. A team of qualified and dedicated full-time and part-time staff with international backgrounds are committed to making your studies a memorable time and providing a solid foundation for your future career. The part-time mode is open for local residents only. Seven dental specialties (Endodontics, Family Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthodontics) are approved by the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong (www.cdshk.org). The Faculty provides Master Degree and Advanced Diploma Degree courses which form the major part of specialist training. Primarily, each year conjoint examinations are held in Hong Kong by the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Membership examinations in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry). Over the years, many of our former students have performed exceptionally well reflecting the high standard of the clinical component of our TPG programmes. A number of our students have received research awards and prizes indicating that the research component is of an equally high standard, further supported by the fact that most of their research is published in peer reviewed international journals (Dissertations and Related Publications). Furthermore, the involvement of external examiners ensures the programmes are of international standing. Please visit the Postgraduate Prospectus to find out more about the courses, student's achievements. The 2008/09 application has two deadlines, one is early deadline on January 31 and the usual deadline is on March 31, 2008. Later applications may be considered.
